# Order a physical card

## Prerequisites

* D1 onboarding completed.
* Program/BIN, products, and personalization templates configured.
* Issuer backend integrated with the Physical issuance API and able to receive Card API notifications.

Central issuance produces and ships cards from a Thales personalization center. Unlike instant issuance, you do not use the Thales Instant Issuance Agent and you do not provide a `persoStation`.

## Flow diagram

1. The issuer backend sends a Produce physical card request to the D1 backend (Physical issuance API).
2. The D1 backend prepares the production data.
3. The D1 backend forwards the production data to the Thales personalization center (Thales Shopfloor).
4. The Thales personalization center returns the production status.
5. The D1 backend notifies the issuer backend using Notify card operations (Card API).
